Thursday 16th January 2025 – William Hill will be the new sponsor of one of National Hunt racing’s biggest fixtures, William Hill Super Saturday at Newbury on February 8th.
The sponsorship includes naming of the UK’s most valuable handicap hurdle, the William Hill Hurdle worth £155,000, as well as the William Hill Denman Chase and William Hill Game Spirit Chase.
Earlier this season, the leading bookmaker announced their sponsorship of the William Hill County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, a race that is often contended by runners from the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury. Last year, L'Eau du Sud finished second in both contests, while Filey Bay (2023) and First Street (2022) also placed in both races.
Newbury’s Super Saturday kicks off a string of top-level racing sponsorships for William Hill, notably the aforementioned William Hill County Hurdle at Cheltenham, their deal as official betting partner of the Randox Grand National Festival at Aintree, as well as the Punchestown Champion Chase.
On New Year’s Day, William Hill became the first bookmaker to offer ‘Non Runner Money Back’ on this year’s Cheltenham Festival, while the return of Best Odds Guaranteed on all UK and Irish racing from 8am daily has further strengthened their offering to customers.
